Carson Ross is 6 years old and lives in Murray, Utah.
Carson is the 5th, and youngest child, of Steve and Nikki Ross. He will be in first grade this year at Viewmont Elementary.
Carson is an active little boy who enjoys soccer, baseball, swimming, playing with his friends and cousins, and playing Xbox. Carson is loved by everyone because of his infectious spirit, cute smile and darling voice.
Carson was diagnosed with Medullablastoma, a cancerous brain tumor, on July 31, 2014. He had surgery on August 1 at Primary Children's Medical Center. The doctors removed 99.5 percent of the tumor.
Carson spent 3 weeks at the hospital fighting back from a condition called Cerebella Mutism, which was a side effect of his surgery.
He got back his ability to swallow, walk, use his left hand, and lastly, his ability to speak. He still has some paralysis on his right cheek and some issues with his eyes.
Carson has started his radiation treatments at the Huntsman Cancer Institute which will continue for a total of 6 weeks, having treatments 5 days each week. During those 6 weeks, he also has a weekly dose of chemotherapy.
After completing the radiation treatment Carson will have a 4-week break before they start a year of chemotherapy treatments.
He has come a long way, but has a long, long road ahead of him. The radiation and chemo cause major havoc with a cancer patient’s body.
Carson continues to amaze us with his determination to get better and his contagious giggle. He is truly our “Iron Man."
May Heavenly Father bless you during this time. You can do it. Certainly this affects the whole family. You can all do it.
